Goals of the Program
In a CHRISTIAN, child-centered environment:
SOCIALLY the child
will learn the privileges and limits of group life. As God directs, (s)he will
begin to develop a caring attitude towards others, and feel acceptance by other
children and adults. The child will begin to develop self-discipline through
learning to make choices within the program.
EMOTIONALLY the
child will be exposed to experiences and persons who will foster Christian
feelings and concepts. The teachers will verbalize God's love through songs,
stories, prayers and conversation, conveying God's orderly plan for the world
and for our need to love one another.
COGNITIVELY-INTELLECTUALLY the child will be encouraged to build skills
that (s)he will use throughout life; listening appropriately, language
development, and understanding. The children will also learn concepts related to
size, shape, space, color, and distance. Other skills which will be encouraged
are those involved in the many learning tasks of life, such as the opportunity
to discover, reason, remember, experiment and generalize.
PHYSICALLY the
child will be provided with opportunities for growth and skill-building in large
and small muscle development. This involves allowing time in the program for
using equipment freely, as well as for special planned activities designed to
allow the teacher to spend time with the child individually in order to assess
their level of development.
NUTRITION is
recognized as a very important part of the child's physical development. Special
attention will be directed to nutritional needs of the young child, including
development of healthy eating habits through provision of a sound nutritional
program.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the
kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”. Mark 10:14
